2 C. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 C. butter, softened
2/3 C. cream cheese, softened
3 C. peeled grated apples
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1/2 C. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1-2 T flour, optional
1 C. confectioners sugar
1-2 T. milk
1. In medium bowl combine flour and salt. Add butter and cream cheese and mix with fingertips until mixture comes together and forms a ball. Chill slightly.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to between 1/8 and 1/16th inch thick. Cut into 24 4-inch squares.
3. Combine apples, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add flour if apples are very juicy. Put a rounded spoonful of mixture into center of each square. Moisten two adjacent edges with water and fold pastry over apples, making a triangle. Seal edges with fork tines. Cut a slit in the top.
4. Place turnovers on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in a 400 degree oven for 15-18 minutes. Cool. Combine confectioners' sugar with 1 T. milk and stir well. Add additional milk, a teaspoon at a time, if neccesary. Drizzle glaze over turnovers.
