1/2 C. butter or margarine, softened
1 C. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 C. peeled, chopped apples
Crumb Mixture:
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 T. sugar
2 T. flour
2 T. cold butter or margarine
1. Cream butter and sugar together. In a separate bowl, dissolve baking soda in sour milk. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Beat butter mixture and egg mixture together. Add flour and salt. Gently stir in apples.
2. Mix crumb ingredients, cutting butter to get a coarse crumb texture.
3. Spoon 1/2 the batter into a greased bread crock. Sprinkle with 1/2 crumb mixture. Spoon in remaining batter and sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
4. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool slightly in crock, remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
