6 C. apple cider
1/4 C. sugar
9 inches stick cinnamon
8 whole cloves
1/2 t. anise seeds
1 large navel orange, sliced
1 med lemon, sliced
1/2 C. bourbon
1. In a 3 to 3-1/2 qt slow cooker combine cider, sugar, cinnamon, cloves and anise seeds.
2. Cover and cook on low-heat for 3-1/2 to 4 hours or high heat for 2 hours. Add orange slices and lemon slices. Cover and cook for 30 minutes more.
3. Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl; strain cider mixture. Turn cooker to low setting. Pour the strained mixture back into the slow cooker to keep warm.
4. Just before serving, add bourbon to cider mixture.
