Pasta with Broccolini and Tomato-Cream Sauce

Ingredients
3 cups Penne
1 bunch broccolini or 1/2 bunch broccoli, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 yellow onion, finely chopped ( 1/2 cup )
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 1/4 cups heavy cream
4 ounces smoked provolone or mozzarella cheese, diced ( 1 cup )
2 ounces prosciutto di Parma or baked ham, cut into thin strips ( 1/2 cup )
Directions
Prepare pasta according to package directions. During last 5 minutes of cooking time, add broccolini. Drain and transfer to a large bowl.

While pasta is cooking, prepare sauce: Heat oil in a medium skillet over high heat. Sauté onions until softened, about 5 minutes. Add tomato paste and sauté 2 minutes more, stirring constantly. Add cream and cook until sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes.

Add pasta to sauce and cook until heated through, about 3 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in cheese and prosciutto before serving.
